Background on Thunderstruck 2

Welcome to another slot review where we strip down the best free slot games hosted by us for you, so you know why they are amongst the most important and most entertaining games to be created.

Back in 2004, if you can remember such a year, a game called Thunderstruck was released by slot maestros Microgaming. This was a hugely popular release back then as Microgaming where at the forefront of development and spearheading the online industry and real money casinos into places it had never been before with online slots.

Before Thunderstruck, the releases by Microgaming included titles Cool Buck, Rock the Boat, and Couch Potato. To look at these games now, they are incredibly dated, but they all contain Microgaming’s key innovations. After Thunderstruck was made, greatness came forth. A year later they struck a deal for Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, in 2006 created Mega Moolah the biggest jackpot game in online history and produced Game of Thrones in 2015.

During this period of growth which captured Microgaming producing their more creative work, the release of Thunderstruck 2 came about in 2010. A lot had changed in the six years between the original release and this sequel, and the time between paid off for the developer and fans of Microgaming’s software.

What our review details, is the basics of the game, how it plays in real money and demo form. We share the gaming features, bonuses, and give you a breakdown of the values that come from playing this game. We will also show you where to play at the best online casinos in Canada and what other games are offered by the Thunderstruck series.

How to Play Thunderstruck 2 for Real Money

We begin with how to play Thunderstruck 2 online for real money. Here we look at the basic core of the game, starting with the RTP.

Thunderstruck 2 comes with an RTP (Return to Play) score that is 96.65%, this is bang average for a real money slot. What this score represents is the probability value of the money you can win back that you put into the game. This isn’t the game’s only algorithmic feature, as the slot comes with a medium volatility setting.

The volatility setting is a performance indicator. It controls the frequency of play. The range goes like this: Low – Low Medium – Medium – Medium High – High. Thunderstruck 2 is bang in the middle. This means users get an even balance of play. At the lower end wins are frequent but less profitable. At the high-end wins are scarce but more profitable. The medium setting is popular amongst players that have a budget but can also afford some expendable cash to play.

Playing Thunderstruck 2 starts with a low cost per spin at 30 cents. The max you can play per spin is 60 dollars per spin. The game comes with 243 ways to win, one of the first games to be built with this innovative feature that abandoned conventional paylines. When you have a game offering a 96.65% payout rate, medium volatility, and 243 ways of winnings, these are the ingredients of a very successful game.

How to Demo Thunderstruck 2

The free demo game here is the official feature made by Microgaming. While you play Thunderstruck 2 for free, use it to become familiar with how the programming works. Do not see this as a game but as a puzzle. Understand how the pieces fit and once fitted together, did the process to make it happen have any worth or value.

Is the medium volatility too balanced for you? Is the 96.95% RTP too low? Did you enjoy the game? All these are important elements to understand and have the answer to before you play the game for real money. The Thunderstruck 2 demo can be played to learn about the benefits of this slot over others. Alternatively, you can just play Thunderstruck 2 for fun only.

You can access this free demo game with no restrictions or limitations. Play with the 100,000 game coins provided and enjoy it through any device. If you win, then you can think about playing it for real money.

Thunderstruck 2 Bonus Features Explained

This game of Nordic mythology steps up from the original in a very big way, this time presenting FOUR free spin bonus rounds. We break down each of the four free spin features and discuss the other extra which adds to this game’s highly entertaining attributes.

Thunderstruck 2 Free Spins and Bonus Rounds

The first main feature of the game comes about during the base game. Called the Wildstorm Feature, it will trigger at random points during the game, turning reels into wilds.

The next feature is The Great Hall of Spins. This is triggered when landing the bonus scatter symbol 3 or more times. Entry into the Great Hall of Spins gives you a chance to unlock 4 free spin bonus features. Each entry into the Great Hall of Spins unlocks a new free spins bonus round.

Valkyrie: 10 free spins and all wins are multiplied by 5. Further free spins in the Valkyrie bonus round can be retriggered.

Loki: 15 free spins are awarded, and you play the bonus round with the Wild Magic symbols in play. When this symbols lands, it can change up to 15 other random symbols to Wild Magic symbols. Additional free spins can be triggered by landing scatter symbols.

Odin: 20 free spins played with the Wild Raven feature. Odin’s raven will randomly transform up to 2 symbols into wilds. These wilds carry a multiplier value of 2x or 3x. Should both Wild Ravens land, the win, if formed, is 6x your bet.

Thor: 25 free spins with Rolling Reels! The Rolling Reels feature works by having winning symbols replaced with new symbols to form a continuous loop of plays until no wins can be made. Each consecutive win comes with a multiplier. Up to 5x can be won if you reach 5 consecutive wins.

Thunderstruck 2 Wild, Scatter, and Winning Symbols

These are the symbols of the Thunderstruck 2 game and what each of their values are when played at the max cost per spin, $60.

You can also take time away from gambling by suspending your account for days, weeks, or months.

Thunderstruck 2 Verdict

Thunderstruck 2 is a far superior game than the first, which came out in 2004. In the 6 years between releases, Thunderstruck2 shows Microgaming’s maturity and innovative genius. Thunderstruck 2 brought bigger features, bigger prizes, and more ways to win. These qualities still make this a must-play game even compared to the deluge of games that followed in the decade since it dropped.

• Win up to $480,000
• 4 free spin bonus features
• Microgaming innovation
